Vivette Glover
Vivetter Glover MA, PhD, DSc has been Director of the Fetal and Neonatal Stress Research Centre, Queen Charlotte's Hospital since 1997. The centre researches topics including the effects of a mother's anxiety on her baby's development in the womb, the effects of different modes of delivery of the baby and stress in premature babies. Dr Glover trained as a biochemist and has a long-term interest in biological psychiatry including post-natal depression.
Lucilla Poston
Lucilla Poston is Tommy's Professor of Fetal and Maternal Health. She established and leads the dedicated team of scientists and doctors forming the Fetal and Maternal Health Research Unit at St. Thomas' Hospital, London (part of the Guys, Kings and St. Thomas' medical school). Prof Poston and her team carry out pioneering research to discover ways to prevent pre-term birth. Most recently the team has been working on a major multi-centre research trial looking at whether vitamins C and E could reduce the incidence of pre-eclampsia in women at high risk of the condition.
Sue Jacob
Midwife, Sue Jacob, works as Student Services Advisor at the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) where she develops and co-ordinates the RCM service for midwifery students. She recently completed her MA in Industrial Relations and Human resource management where she developed a keen interest in women and work issues. Prior to joining the RCM, Sue was a midwifery lecturer at Nightingale Institute - King's College, London University.
Nigel Simpson
Mr Nigel Simpson is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, a Director of Medical undergraduate training and clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds. Mr Simpson has a particular clinical and research interest in the disorders of early pregnancy and the causes and prevention of premature birth. He is married to Sally, a former nurse and midwife, and they have four young and lively children.
Lesley Regan
Lesley Regan is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Imperial College School of Medicine and St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, and director of the largest clinic in Europe for women who have had recurrent miscarriages. She is a medical advisor to the Miscarriage Association and to TAMBA (the Twins and Multiple Birth Association), a trustee of Save the Baby and expert adviser to the Industrial Relations Society (pregnancy and the workplace) and is mother of twin girls.
Teresa Isaacs
In her role as Manager, Occupational Health, with the Lloyds TSB Group, Teresa Isaacs develops strategy and policy advice relating to Occupational Health. A Registered General nurse since 1978, Teresa then trained and practised as a Midwife for three years, before studying for her Diploma in Occupational Health and NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety. For the last 18 years Teresa has worked for a variety of public and private sector employers in her capacity as Occupational Health Advisor/Manager, including the NHS, Cadbury Schweppes, Smith and Nephew, and Orange PCS. She has also worked as Senior Occupational Health Nurse at the University of Birmingham where she is regularly invited back to lecture. Teresa has a firm belief in health promotion and the prevention of work-related ill-health. She is especially interested in stress management and the monitoring and development of Occupational Health related internal codes of practice, health strategies, and risk assessment practices, including the recent introduction of the New and Expectant Nursing Mothers Code of Practice.
