Pregnancy in the workplace needn't be a bumpy ride

Becoming a pregnancy-friendly workplace is easier than you might think. Tommy's Pregnancy Accreditation Programme delivers all the help you need to guide your employees and their managers through healthier, happy working pregnancies.

Employers can become an accredited member of the programme and be recognised as a leader in workplace pregnancy management.

A productive and healthy working pregnancy is a team effort, taking into account the needs of both the employee and her employer. A safe and positive environment is essential in safe-guarding the best possible outcome of a pregnancy: a healthy, full-term baby.
Ensuring that a pregnancy in the workplace is well managed can also have enormous benefits for the employer: increasing the return-to-work rate following maternity leave, reinforcing staff loyalty to the organisation, and creating a supportive working atmosphere.

Supported by the Equal Opportunities Commission, Department of Trade and Industry and Health and Safety Executive, the scheme is the only one of its kind in the UK. Since its launch in 1999, the programme has reached 300,000 working women and has attracted member companies, large and small, from a wide range of industries from retail, to banking, to education.
